Axe Valley Wildlife Park is a fabulous family friendly attraction situated on the very edge of Axminster and is home to species ranging from rare breeds of goats to zebras, meerkats, otters, flamingoes and mongooses.

It is well set out offers visitors the opportunity to get up close with animals of all sizes and some great animal experience sessions including handling a snake, tarantula or cockroach, hand-feeding birds, meeting the armadillo, lemur or flamingos. There are daily animal talks which provide lots of insightful information about all the park inhabitants.

There are children’s play areas, lovely shady spots for a picnic, a cafe, shop and other facilities. The attraction is particularly appealing for children under 12s, but great for people of all ages. It’s best to allow two to three hours to explore the park.

Designer: Christine Newton

“When I look at the black and white stripes of an animal’s hide and pink of a bird’s feathers I automatically think ‘zebra’ and ‘flamingo’. I felt that just these two colours represented the ‘exotic' species living in the wildlife park on the edge of town.”
